This is a great little product solving a number of problems – smallest or minimum footprint debug connector. The board space required for debug/programming connectors is sometimes not really there. Or the height. Or the cost of maintaining two variants of the BOM with and without the connector.
Tag-Connect fixes all this. Put a super small footprint on the board. The smallest is literally as small as a 0805 footprint. Then connect directly to the footprint – no mating connector is required on the PCB – using the special spring-loaded posts of the Tag-Connect cable.
Two variations of the cable are available. With or without latching “legs”. Use one without legs for these quick 5-second programming jobs and the other (which requires a 2-3X larger footprint) for a debugger connection that you want to use over extended periods. You can buy 6, 10 and 14 pin versions depending on the needs of the application.
I think this is such a nice and simple solution, I thought you should know about it as well. I have no affiliation with the company (but wish I had). Great idea. Hopefully, you find it useful too. Website: www.tag-connect.com
PS: This minimum footprint debug connector is obviously not a high-speed connector, but for the type of use it’s intended for – fine.
