If you are interested in signal integrity, and you should be if you are reading this, you may have noticed that the subject seem to have a slow but ever increasing level of awareness. I think this is really good. One of the indicators is the number of events going on related to signal integrity.
DesignCon is the king of them starting in Santa Clara, CA, USA Jan 28th. Several full days of signal integrity papers etc. For me it was interesting, but also a bit boring as lots of papers presented were a bit theoretical for my taste. I think you should commit to going to a number of these in a row to find out where to go for the really good speakers. It is after all still a small community.
Embedded World in Nuremberg Feb 25-27 has signal integrity as a subject on one of the conference tracks for the first time ever. My friend Hermann Rückerbauer talks about “Jitter in PCIe application on embedded boards with PLL Zero delay Clock buffer” along with some other fine talks on Thursday afternoon in class 13. Embedded World is a great expo for all things embedded. I have never attended the conference part, so I am not sure about the level there. Feel free to add your impression in the comments if you have been there.
Doulos has taken signal integrity on as a subject to supplement their long track record of delivering world class HDL courses for FPGA and ASIC designers across the world (yes, I deliver the courses, but hey, it counts :-). Next Signal Integrity with Hands-On Simulation course is in Ringwood (a nice small town roughly an hour SW of London) on March 17-18th. If you fly in use Heathrow airport.
And of course I have to remember this one: The Nordic SI Week 2014 with Lee Ritchey is in Stockholm May 5-9, but is really serving all of Europe and beyond (yes, I organize that one as well, but hey…). Now is a great time to sign up, as you still get the 10% early bird discount. This event has three signal integrity courses that you can pick and choose from as you like or just do the whole week and get an even better deal.
