New 3-week Signal Integrity Course at DTU

April 29, 2014 by Rolf Østergaard

logo_DTUAfter not having signal integrity as a subject for many years, Danish Technical University (DTU) is finally stepping up to the plate and has introduced this as a standard 5 ETS point 3 week course to run for the first time in June 2014.

This is really good news for the danish electronics industry, as this is one of the keys if we want to keep advanced electronic development at the board level in Denmark. The alternative is being dependent on modules developed elsewhere, which hampers innovation and limits the flexibility in form factors and functions.

If you want to see what I am talking about, here is the official course description:

This is a great start, but obviously just a start. One of the big issues are still that high speed electronics is an expensive thing. Fast test equipment and advanced simulation software is required. The good thing is that DTU as a university have some very good deals on the simulation software and equipment. Time will show however if they are willing to follow up with the investments in equipment needed to take this further in the coming years.

Open University

The course is open to the industry as well as students, and I really encourage the danish industry to support the initiative by recommending this course to the relevant students  and new grads.

I think the price is around DKK 750 per ECTS point, so this course should be around DKK 3.750 – but please check this with DTU.

PS: And yes, I am involved in the course as well.
